INDIANAPOLIS – It began as a stupid fantasy, based on an ancient quote that the Arizona Cardinals somehow aimed at Oklahoma Quarterback Kyler Murray with the # 1 grand total in this year's NFL draft, and were willing to give up on Josh Rosen the quarterback they brought to place a year ago a year ago. For weeks, everyone ̵
Well, many NFL people think it's not that ridiculous at all. And of course that's remarkable for the Giants.
In fact, many NFL sources, from Boy Scouts to Agents to Team Leaders, have said SNY in the NFL Scouting Combine this week that they believe the Cardinals are really aiming with Murray at the Murray No. 1 pick overall. Of course, none of them knew exactly, and the Braintrust of cards was not ready to shake hands with him.
However, speculation did not start until Wednesday, when Cardinal's GM Steve Keim was asked if Rosen was the Cardinals' quarterback and he replied: "Yes," said Keim. "He is sure now."
It was the "now" that set the combine on fire and media outlets were looking for the video from Kliff Kingsbury when he once said of Murray, "I would take him." First bring in the design if I could. "Of course, Kingsbury was at Texas Tech back then, and even he could never imagine that he would soon be coaching the cardinals who happened to hold that first choice.
Maybe that was a coincidence, but Kingsbury and Murray would at least warrant that to be associated until the draft on April 25.
"Yes, I can see why and how the circumstances have changed," he said Wednesday. "It was before a college game, and You obviously believe in the world of Kyler as a player and as a person. But the timing is quite unique. "
It actually is, and it's an even bigger story than Murray's Thinking they might be a second round because of his height, he measured 5-10 1/8 on Wednesday and a solid 207. Crossing the 5-10 and 200-pound barriers relieved some NFL staff. Well, even those who do not believe that the Cardinals will be No. 1, seem to be convinced that he has a chance at Ohio State Dwayne Haskins who in this design has long been considered the best Quarterback prospectus. Considering the fact that "quarterbacks are always going higher than expected," as one NFL source said, both could get into the top 5.
The cardinals will probably even get a few calls from teams, d hey are keen to deal with him the first selection But no one believes the cards have this chance.
"I really think he's going to be # 1," said a league source. "It fits in exactly with what Kingsbury wants to do out there."
"It fits perfectly together," said another source. "And maybe they can also offer roses for a wide selection."
The mobile Murray seems to be ideal for Kingsbury's "Air Raid" dispute, which needs a fast, mobile quarterback to play on the run. It is unclear what they could get for roses, who had to struggle as a beginner. Considering the high level that all of the quarterbacks were in last year's draft, it could be assumed that several teams might be interested. Maybe just speculation is eight weeks before the draft. For many in the league, however, this speculation is much more credible than a few weeks ago.
