ViacomCBS ends his longstanding relationship with Nick Cannon after posting anti-Semitic comments on his podcast.
In the June 30 episode of “Cannon’s Class,” actor and television host interviewed Professor Griff, a rapper who was part of Public Enemy, before leaving the group after making anti-Semitic remarks.
In the podcast, Cannon said the blacks were the “true Hebrews” and spoke about anti-Semitic conspiracy theories in which the Rothschild family was involved.
“It’s never hate speech, you can’t be anti-Semitic if we’re the Semitic people,” Cannon said. “If we are the same people that they want to be. That is our birthright. We are the true Hebrews. “

“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of all kinds and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism. We spoke to Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube that promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support continuing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply concerned that Nick has not recognized or apologized for maintaining anti-Semitism, and we are ending our relationship with him. We are determined to respond better to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism and bigotry. ViacomCBS will continue to announce our efforts to fight all types of hate, ”said the company.
On Monday, Cannon said on Twitter and Facebook that he “has no hatred in my heart or malicious intentions” and will not tolerate hate speech. He also said that he is “responsible for this moment” and takes full responsibility for his actions.
Cannon has had a relationship with Viacom since he was an actor at Nickelodeon in the 1990s. He was also the host of the sketch comedy show “Wild ‘n Out”, which has been broadcast on MTV and VH1 since 2005. More recently he was known as the moderator of “The Masked Singer” at Fox and moderated “America’s Got Talent” at NBC from 2009-2016. He also starts a syndicated talk show a day with Debmar-Mercury in September.
