Washington, June 30 (PTI) Scientists have developed a system of artificial intelligence that uses an individual brain scan to detect how clever someone is.
California Institute of Technology Researchers, Cedars-Sinai Medical The US Center and University of Salerno show that their new computer tool can predict a person's intelligence through functional magnetic resonance imaging scans (fMRI) of their resting brain activity.
Functional MRI develops a map of brain activity by detecting changes in blood flow to specific brain regions.
In other words, an individual's intelligence can be taken from activity patterns in their brain when they are not doing or thinking anything special.
"We have found that we have only humans in the scanner and do nothing while we measure the activity pattern in their brain, so we can use the data to predict their intelligence," said Ralph Adolphs of Caltech.
To t The researchers fed their algorithms with the complex activity patterns in the human brain, fed the brain scans and intelligence of nearly 900 individuals into their algorithm and set it in motion.
After processing the data, the algorithm was able to predict intelligence at statistically significant levels across these 900 subjects, said Julien Dubois, a postdoctoral fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
However, there is much room for improvement, he said.
The scans are rough and noisy measurements of what is actually happening in the brain, and many potentially useful information is still discarded.

Intelligence was selected as one of the first test fields for the technology, as research has shown that it is very stable over time. That is, a person's IQ score does not vary much over a period of weeks, months, or years.

The personality test they use divides the personality into five scales: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion , Compatibility and Neuroticism
