Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers Game 2 Score: Portland uses team effort to repress Nikola Jokic, even series with road-win

The No. 2 seeded Denver Nuggets may have ridden Nikola Jokic to victory in Game 1, but Game 2 did not fare as well for Denver as the Portland Trail Blazers were able to equalize the series with a 97-90 victory Wednesday.

The blazers have been ahead of the nuggets in the last 43 minutes of the game. Portland held Denver only 35.1 percent out of the field and 21.4 percent out of the perimeter. Jokic had held only 1

6 points in his 7-of-17 shooting after scoring 37 points in Game 1.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum got away together, scoring 13 out of 37 points Only 15 points from Enes Kanter and Rodney Hood to stop the late rise of the Nuggets towards the end of the game. Portland will play the lead role in Portland on Friday night to play the lead in Game 3.

Here are some gifts from Game 2 and everything you need to know about the series.

Blazers stuff Jokic through lightning with defenders

Jokic may have had a nice stat line of 16 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for this game, but the bottom line he was completely slowed down by defending the blazer this time around. The blazers flashed with multiple defenders in the post, nullifying his ability to take over – as in Game 1, scoring 37 points.

The entire Nuggets' offensive unit fought, but they go all the way to Jokic. Jokic was stunted – and the nuggets as a whole never recovered.

Blazer's supporting cast wins Game 2

When you heard that the Blazers had won Game 2, you probably assumed that either Damian Lillard or C.J. McCollum exploded and had 30 points. But they did not do it.

Lillard had a terrible game. He shot out of the 3-point area only 5: 17 from the field and 1: 7 from a 3-point area and ended with only 14 points. McCollum was better, but he did not dominate – he scored 20 points in 20 rounds.

However, Enes Kanter had a big impact on the starting center Enes Kanter with his 15-point nine-rebound performance. Rodney Hood was great. He scored 15 points to lead all bankers while scoring the biggest blow in the match two minutes ahead. He converted a 3-point attempt to put the Blazers in the lead with a 94-84 lead.

In other words, the Blazers' sidekick – not their star duo – won them with Game 2.

Nuggets Forgot How to Shoot

While Jokic had trouble in Game 2, this did not help the sideline him – at all. Jamal's Murray, the Nuggets' second goal option, converted to 15 points after just 6 out of 18 field trials, while Gary Harris scored a miserable 4 out of 12 with 12 points.

The Nuggets were missing as a whole unit in every conceivable way. They shot 34.7 percent from the field, 20.7 percent from the 3-point area and 61.5 percent from the free throw line.

While the blazers adjusted their game plan to slow Jokic down, the rest of the Nuggets had missed open shots throughout the game – just at home, of all places ,
