Eight trains on the Long Island Rail Road were canceled or partially canceled during the morning rush on Monday, the LIRR said Sunday night.
The reason: A non-passenger derailed on Saturday night on the West Side Yard in Manhattan. An MTA employee reported back pain after the derailment, which, according to a CBS 2 story, involved two cars in the middle of the turn. Further injuries were not reported.
Crews have been working to repair damage to the tracks, but it is unclear why the LIRR is waiting until Sunday evening to warn about possible effects on Monday's commons.
