Ocasio-Cortez: It is "totally unacceptable" The salaries of the Congress are excluded from the closure

The elected Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has blown up the fact that Congressional legislators are still being paid during a government deadlock.

"The next time we shut down the government, the salaries of the congress should also be discontinued. It is totally unacceptable that members of Congress can force the shutdown of the government by partisan lines and then the salaries of Congress be excluded from this decision, "she wrote on Saturday . "Do you have some integrity."

Your post comes on the first day of the government's government shutdown because legislators are unable to pass budgets amid President Trump's demands for frontier wall financing.

CNBC notes that more than 420,000 federal employees are expected to be affected by the closure, which will continue to work with deferred payment such as law enforcement, and around 380,000 workers who are not paid for the missed time as NASA employees.

Ocasio-Cortez's position on congressional salaries has already been advanced.

At about the time the Obama administration closed in 2013, the Washington Post explained why legislators are free of any fiscal crisis and wrote: "The closure of the government only affects agencies and staff funded from annual funds. However, this does not apply to members of the Congress. Salaries for members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are included in the permanent law. "

At the time, some legislators suggested donating their salaries in solidarity with other federal employees during the decommissioning phase.
