Officials: Iowa flu deaths more than double a year ago

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Iowa health officials say the flu has more than twice as many inhabitants last winter than the year before.
The Des Moines Register says that the Iowa Department of Public Health reported on Friday that 270 people in Iowa died of influenza in the season last fall. This compares to 1
Influenza hospitalization died in late December and remained high until February.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that flu deaths have also peaked at national level since 1965.
Iowa health officials say the number of new influenza cases has dropped to a trickle in recent weeks.
