A girl from Ohio died this week, just a day after the diagnosis of strep throat and flu, said the girl's mother.
Sable Gibson, a fourth-grade student at a Mason City School, was diagnosed with influenza and streps Tuesday morning, but hours later she fell into cardiac arrest, her mother Holly Rauch Gibson said in a Facebook post.
She was flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital but died the following night.
"We are heartbroken to share that our sweet Sable Paige has taken her first steps into the arms of Jesus this evening," Gibson read in his post. "Our hearts are completely broken."

The Mason City Schools also released a statement Thursday confirming Sable's death.

Officials asked school members to wear pink on Thursday to remind Sable, Cincinnati's FOX 19 reported.
