Oil facilities in Saudi Arabia burn after drone strikes

The footage showed flames and huge clouds of smoke over Abqaiq, the largest oil processing plant in the world.

A second drone attack also triggered fires on the Khurais oil field in the west. In both facilities, the fires are now under control, state media said.

Iranian-aligned Houthi fighters in Yemen were blamed for earlier attacks.

The Saudi media reports, however, did not indicate who might be behind the recent attacks.

"At 04:00 (01

00 GMT), Aramco's health and safety teams began firefighting at two of their facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais due to … drones," the official Saudi press agency reported.

"The two fires were controlled."

Abqaiq is located about 60 km southwest of Dhahran in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, while Khurai has the country's second largest oil field about 200 km to the southwest.
