Autumn is here, and that's also the new addition to the semi-annually updated Android flagship series from OnePlus – almost. Next week, the OnePlus 6T will be released, offering a much better upgrade over its predecessor than the previous (and first) two T-series smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer. In addition to a multitude of rumors and leaks, the company has already launched the OnePlus 6T for over a month and has published a wide range of information about the Android phone. Without further ado, here's all there is to know about the OnePlus 6T:
Coming even earlier than we thought –
The OnePlus 6T has already been confirmed as scheduled on Tuesday start, October 30th. Two weeks later, Apple said that it was an event on the same date and in the same city – New York. Fearing the idea of having the world's most valuable brand to introduce the new iPads and Macs to the limelight, OnePlus has postponed the event a day earlier. Fans who have already purchased tickets for the original event and can not pay in advance or find that it is more expensive will be reimbursed or the price difference will be covered by the company. The company's established product practices suggest that the OnePlus 6T will be available for purchase no later than 6th November, although pre-orders should begin immediately after its release on Monday.
The headphone jack has died for it
OnePlus continues its strategy of increasing the screen area of its devices without increasing its overall physical footprint with the OnePlus 6T. The handset is therefore set to a 6.4-inch screen, as opposed to a 6.2-inch screen because of the thinner bezels. The display notch on the previous handset has also been toned down and is now much sleeker, styled after a drop of water, not unlike what consumers have already seen on the latest phones from OnePlus sister company OPPO.
Corning's Gorilla Glass 6 is also expected to be part of the package, offering even better protection than the OnePlus 6. A less desirable distinction comes in the form of the death of the 3.5mm headphone jack, which the company streamlines with a forum poll suggesting that most customers already own wireless headsets. The company also claims it is unable to hold the headphone jack while still having an in-display fingerprint reader and staying in the desired enclosure dimensions, adding that the removal also allowed to increase the battery capacity of the device. While no exact figures were given, a late September leak suggested that the OnePlus 6T is powered by a 3,700mAh cell, from a 3,300mAh found in its predecessor.
The In-Display Fingerprint Reader The handset will result in a more uniform appearance of its back panel, which will now feature such a scanner, although the new module is of the optical diversity, meaning that regardless of the company's calibration its speed and accuracy – ie safety – will be The manufacturer believes that the overall change will be positive because the smartphone can be unlocked by simply touching the screen. Face unlock support should also be retained.
Few Innovations on the Imaging Front
According to most reports, the OnePlus 6T offers a mobile photography experience that is almost identical to that of its predecessor, offering another dual-camera setup with two wide-angle lenses, by at least one of which supports optical image stabilization. Phase detection autofocus should also be part of the package, along with a dual LED flash and HDR recording. A similar wide-angle camera should be equipped with a display notch of the OnePlus 6T, which provides 16 megapixels and supports a kind of portrait mode.
OxygenOS includes Android 9 Pie
The OnePlus 6T will be the first handset from the company to run an OxygenOS build based on Android 9 Pie. The version of the Android implementation for older OnePlus devices will arrive after the release of the new flagship, confirmed the OEM . Not much details about a new operating system are currently known, though the company already spoke of a "new user interface" and additional gestures optimization introduced with the OnePlus 6. As part of these novelties, users will be able to swipe up from the bottom of the screen to the top right corner to switch between the last two applications used. The Android 9 Pie-based version of OxygenOS also allows Google Assistant to hold down the Google button for 0.5 seconds.
The usual choice with a surprise, not surprisingly more expensive than ever
The OnePlus 6T is offered in three variants, after numerous leaks that have appeared online in recent months. The base model will provide 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while configurations with 8GB of RAM are also available, along with a choice of 128GB and 256GB of flash memory. An Ultimate Edition with some "secrets" will be this year's startup surprise, according to a recent Swedish report.
Traditionally, the Chinese company will introduce another price increase with the OnePlus 6T. probably in the order of $ 30. The series is therefore expected to start at about $ 550, with all units bundled with adapters for connecting 3.5mm headphones to their USB Type C (3.1) ports
set to all Breaking Sales Records
OnePlus scored a major sales win by partnership with T-Mobile thereby making its first carrier agreement in the United States. As a result, the controversy surrounding the lack of a headphone jack will barely affect commercial performance as it becomes the best-selling OnePlus phone. A recent report suggested that the OnePlus 6T could even be compatible with Verizon's CDMA network which would be another premiere for the Chinese manufacturer and significantly increase its appeal as Verizon is the largest mobile operator in the United States, states remain. The company has recently signed new distribution agreements with network operators in the UK, Sweden and other parts of the world and is positioning its next Android flagship as its biggest ever hit.
