Breonna TaylorThe mother knew in advance that her daughter would be the first person other than Oprah to appear solo on the cover of O-Magazin … because O said it to her.
Sources with direct knowledge report TMZ … Oprah’s team turned to one of Breonna’s family lawyers. Ben Crumpa few weeks ago to see if she could contact her mother directly, Tamika Palmer.
We were told that Breonna’s family didn’t hesitate … Oprah got Tamika’s number and called her in early June … shortly after O Breonna sent a birthday tribute on Instagram.
We were told it was the first time the two women had spoken, and it was only they on the call. Then Oprah Tamika revealed her plan to show Breonna on the cover and ask for her blessing.
According to our sources, Tamika was “totally in awe” of Oprah’s gesture – she called it an incredible moment – and of course she has the honor that O does something she has never done before as a tribute to Breonna.
As we reported … Breonna’s cover is historicalbecause it’s the only time Oprah wasn’t there. She stepped aside for one of her last print editions and dedicated it to Taylor, saying, “If you ignore racism, you will become an accomplice for it.” The words on the cover shape … “YOUR LIFE IS.”
Breonna was killed on March 13 by the Louisville police in her own home in a botched robbery via a “no-knock” command. So far, her death has not led to arrests, which has triggered countless protests … along with the death of George Floyd.
In an interview with “CBS This Morning”, Oprah expressed her wish to protest and said … “Without COVID, I would be walking on the street.”
Fortunately, she found another effective way to do her part.
