The Orange County Health Care Agency reported a further 1,251 coronavirus cases on Saturday, July 11, and increased the total number of Orange Counties to 23,901 since local testing began in March. Nine new deaths were reported, for a total of 421.
Of the 421 deaths, 212 were in qualified nursing homes, 15 in assisted living facilities and two were classified as homeless.
There were 671 registered hospital patients with 231 in the intensive care unit. The state’s corona virus tracking dashboard shows that at least 39% of beds in ICU are still available in Orange County.
The district estimates the number of virus recoveries at 9,982. The number of people who recovered is based on the cumulative number of cases over the past 28 days.
The breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:
- 85 and older: 31% (129)
- 75-84: 26% (109)
- 65-74: 18% (73)
- 55-64: 13% (52)
- 45-54: 8% (33)
- 35-44: 2% (10)
- 25-34: 1% (5)
- 24 and under: 0%
