According to a recent rumor, Overwatch 2 was announced on November 1 during the BlizzCon, presumably for PS4, Xbox One and PC, but possibly also for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. As you may know, similar rumors have been going on for some time, but unlike previous rumors, this source comes from a relatively reliable source, or at least from the source that made the announcement of the game at BlizzCon known last year. For those who do not know: This source is Metro which also claims the sequel will bring some important gameplay changes.
According to Metro, the most notable addition to Overwatch 2 is extended to a PvE mode, which is integrated along with an enhanced multiplayer mode. Now it's a bit unclear how similar the new PvP mode will be to PvP mode in the current game, but it seems like it's changing, which is a big reason why this is a sequel, not an extension.
Interestingly, the source also claims that this year, no new hero will be announced for the current game. Why? Because Blizzard is concentrating on the sequel and bringing it out as quickly as possible, which seems a bit strange as the current game still seems to be going pretty well. Of course, it is possible that the massive and recent PR hit on the Blizzard Prohibition Hearthstone Player supporting the ongoing protests in Hong Kong is accelerating the need to bring out the sequel. After all, Blizzard has to sweep things under the carpet sooner rather than later, because at the moment it looks like it's starting to fill up. In fact, several celebrity congressional figures today ̵
Overwatch 2 adds a kind of leveling system that affects the way in which you can act as a hero.
Finally, the Leaker Proposes the Only Footage of the Sequel We will see that this is one of Blizzard's most popular kinematics, with members of the development team talking about the title on stage.
Of course, all of this should be recorded with a large grain of salt, like any leak, rumor or report. As mentioned above, Metro has a documented history of Overwatch Scoops.
