The latest free update for Overwatch is here, and it launches the latest seasonal event, Overwatch Archive 2018. It is now live on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and offers both new skins and a special co-op brawl mode called Retribution
There are a handful of new skins – eight Legendaries – that you get through loot crates into your hands. Characters who get new looks in this update are Hanzo, Winston, Moira, Reaper, Mei, Doomfist, Sombra, and Lucio. More than 100 cosmetics items from last year's Uprising event come back with 60 new ones added to the event. These include hightlight intros, sprays, emotes, and more.
Regarding the Retribution mode, it's a co-op experience for four players that is not comparable to what we've seen before from Overwatch's PvE offerings. It takes eight years before the events of Overwatch, when the Blackwatch group tries to win a "senior member of the Talon organization". The players assume the roles of Genji, McCree, Moira and Reyes (who eventually becomes Reaper). Alternatively, there is a non-canonical version that allows you to play as any character from the entire list. Anyway, you'll be playing on a new map of Venice, while a PvP version, Rialto, will also be available as a new escort card.
The new event is open until April 30th. In addition to the returning cosmetics from last year, you can also participate in the recurring PvE mode. Both, like the Junkenstein Revenge mode for Halloween, are only available for a short time, because Blizzard does not think they offer the necessary long-term depth.
