San Diego Padres' Jacob Nix, a pitcher, was arrested in Arizona earlier this week for allegedly breaking into a house in the middle of the night through a dog-door.

Peoria police tell ABC15-TV Phoenix that homeowner Nix, 23, found his home on October 6 and kicked him in the face. When another man tried to pull Nix through the dog door, the homeowner fired a Taser that struck Nix in the back.

The police were called, and later Nix and the other man, Thomas Cosgrove – also a Padres launcher – were tracked down a few blocks away.

The Padres claimed to be aware of the incident, and made a statement on Thursday : "We take this matter seriously and have Contacting the Commissioner's Office and Local Authorities. "

Nix made his major league debut in 2018 and recorded a 2-5 record in 42 1/3 innings with a 7.02 ERA. He missed most of the 2019 season after tearing a band in his elbow during spring training.
