Pandora has been quietly launching a new family plan that will allow up to six Pandora accounts access to premium features for $ 1
The new subscription level called the Premium Family Plan reflects similar offerings from rivals Spotify and Apple Music. Users can select their own higher-quality music without advertising, create radio stations, customize playlists, download music for offline listening, and skip and play songs.
Users will also have access to Pandora's new personalizeda new offer unveiled last week. Music lists are generated for users based on what Pandora knows about them as individuals, the music genome project, 75 machine-learning algorithms, and the curatorial team's expertise.
Pandora users logging in iTunes, Google Play, Roku or Amazon Appstore will not have access to the new plan, the company says. To sign up, users must cancel their subscription or wait for it to expire.
Pandora was an early leader in music streaming, but his digital version of the radio was locked in rigid licensing rules that kept listeners from listening to songs for years. In the meantime, new competitors such as Spotify and Apple Music have entered into more flexible licensing agreements, including Spotify's ability to allow even listeners to freely choose their music when needed.
The new plan was first reported by the Android Police
Pandora did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
