A Green Parrot was taken into police custody after attempting to stop a drug raid. He repeatedly called in Brazilian manner "Mom, police!"
The lookout parrot appeared to be in situ to alert its owners to the presence of law enforcement agencies and tried to jeopardize the raid on northern Brazil.
"He must have been trained for this," said an officer involved in the operation, the Guardian said. "As soon as the police approached, he began to scream."
The warning was unsuccessful, and the two owners of the bird were taken into custody together with the bags of crack cocaine seized in the apartment. The parrot was also abducted from the abode, who remained calm after being placed in a cage, executed and taken to the police department.
Salma Barros, the defender of the arrested couple, quoted the parrot's silence as he asked questions about the police version of the arrests, and wondered how a bird that had so loudly forced its owners into a drug attack while the police civility could stay calm.
The parrot was later sent to a zoo where he uttered neither a word nor a squeak. "Many police officers came by and he did not say anything," veterinarian Alexandre Clark said.
