Pence visits migrant detention center near southern border to 'see firsthand the humanitarian crisis'



Vice President Mike Pence visited a migrant detention center in Texas on Friday to "see firsthand the humanitarian crisis" at the southern border.

Pence – who was joined by lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee – visited the Donna Holding Facility amid concerns about the migrant surge and poor conditions at detention centers. The centers include people who have crossed into the U.S. illegally, and those claiming asylum from Central America.

During the visit, a small group of children and asked them in English ̵

1; a handler translated to Spanish – if they were comfortable and being taken care of. The children nodded yes.
