The influence of Pep Lijnders was clear when the Liverpoolers were put through their paces in the blazing heat of Charlotte.
The Dutchman, who was brought back to the club by Jürgen Klopp this summer, was right in the middle of it. It remained at full speed with the bellow orders and the guarantee of the standards.
In the preseason, Lijnders took on much more responsibility alongside Peter Krawietz in the absence of the first co-coach Zeljko Buvac.
Liverpool insists that the situation at Buvac remains unchanged – he remains a club employee and has been away for "personal reasons" since April.
