WILSON COUNTY, TN (WSMV) – A person at Wilson Central High School has tested positive for active tuberculosis, according to an email received from News4 by Principal Travis Mayfield Test, and it's not clear if the person was a student or a co-worker. About 450 people may be infected with tuberculosis and have to be tested at school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the next week.
A church meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 23, at 6 pm.
"It is important to note that although TB can be contagious, it primarily affects individuals, close personal contact with a hospital has infected patients on a regular basis," Principal Mayfield said in the email.
A separate e-mail has been sent to the parents of the 450 students who need to be tested.
"If you do NOT receive a separate notification, then" means your child will not have to be tested at this time, "Principal Mayfield said.
Mayfield said the school had changed air filters in all classrooms and all school buses, have been redeveloped to service Wilson Central High School. [1
