The Seahawks get back a pair of draft picks this week, having missed the start of the year on the list of physically ineffective players, is expected to re-train with the team on Wednesday.
"Both boys worked really well together in rehab and both were ready to come back much earlier than this deadline so they would be in good shape, but again they did it. I did not work with them at all, so know we do not do it, "said head coach Pete Carroll on Monday.
Haynes, a four-round winner from Wake Forest, had an operation on a sports hernia in June and could not come back to the field before the end of the training camp. He had worked with the starting line-up of the team in the early off-season when Mike Iupati failed due to a foot injury.
"We're looking forward to Phil," Carroll said. "He has been ready for a few weeks, but has to wait for the end of the six-week deadline, he comes to us and we are curious what he can do."
With D.J. Fluker is currently out with a thigh injury and Ethan Pocic suffered a back injury last week. The Seahawks could benefit from Haynes' return.
Christmas, a seventh-round fixture from the state of Florida, had a back injury that came into the training camp and led to his inclusion in the PUP list.
Haynes and Christmas have 21 days to practice before they need to be added to the active roster. If they are not activated, they can not return the rest of the season.
