Globe photographers Erin Clark and Jessica Rinaldi as well as Globe reporters Deanna Pan, Joshua Miller and Mark Arsenault recorded the Sunday opening of Encore Boston Harbor Casino in Everett.

The $ 2.6 billion hotel and casino on the Mystic River in Everett is unlikely to close and will be operational 24 hours a day, every day.

The Encore, built and operated by Las Vegas casino giant Wynn Resorts, is considered the largest single-phase private project in the state's history. It is at the heart of the still-young casino gambling industry in Massachusetts, the state's largest and most lucrative casino market.

The resort has 15 bars and restaurants, including a buffet, a 671-room hotel and suites. a spa and a huge playing area with a range of table games and 3,158 slot machines. The state of Massachusetts will collect 25 percent of gaming revenue from the casino in taxes.
