Starting this month, pixel owners will get an additional sound option that controls the behavior of their phones on an incoming call. Called Google's Ramping Ringer feature, it lets the phone vibrate for a few seconds before ringing, and the volume grows louder and louder.
Discovered by XDA during an APK demolition in the summer, the ramping wrestler feature should be part of the Pixel 4 launch in October. Just as the new Rule feature became available to various Pixel phones about a month later, so was the Ramping Ringer, which has many reports of OG Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a and others Pixel 4 owners received. 1
The new feature is located in Settings > Sounds > Vibrate for Calls . If the option "Vibrate first then ring slowly" is selected, the phone responds to calls by vibrating for about five seconds before gradually increasing the ringer volume for a period of 10 seconds. The ringer volume level does not exceed the maximum ringer volume set by the user.
