Pixelmator Pro Extension Adds layers, RAW editing, and more to Apple Photos



The popular macOS Photoshop alternative Pixelmator Pro has released a major update today. Pixelmator Pro 1.4 "Hummingbird" offers a number of useful new features. The biggest change, however, is the Apple Photos extension, which turns Apple's built-in photo app into a comprehensive editing suite by integrating all . the features of Pixelmator.

If you're deeply rooted in the Apple ecosystem, you know the benefits of using Apple Photos. iCloud Sync means your photos stay up to date and seamless on any device. Although the app has already introduced some advanced photo editing features back in 201

7, it's still way behind RAW editors like Lightroom or graphic editors like Photoshop. Or was it.

With the release of Pixelmator Pro 1.4 Hummingbird, you can insert layer-based workflow, RAW editing, digital brushes and all other Pixelmator Pro features directly into Apple Photos. The big advantage is obvious: "Layers and other nondestructive changes are taken directly into your photo library and synchronized between computers via iCloud."

Like you all that is available in Pixelmator Pro 1.4 is now also available in Apple Photos. It's not quite the "Apple released new version of Aperture" story, which we all want to release soon, but it turns Apple Photos into a Photoshop alternative that pays off.

In addition to the extension, Hummingbird also offers several other features, including: a new zoom tool, an improved cropping tool with support for custom pixel sizes, new image size templates for iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch devices, and the ability to export files Layers like drag & drop PSDs directly into Pixelmator Pro.
