City officials said the original plan to use the Graceada Park had raised safety concerns as organizers' liability insurance had been lifted According to FOX 40 in Sacramento.
"Unless you are insured, you can not reserve any of our parks," city spokesman Thomas Reeves told Sacramento's KOVR-TV.
The latest development is controversial The city council meeting on Wednesday night, attended by critics, did not want the organizers, as the name suggests, to celebrate heterosexuality, but instead to publish an agenda against homosexuals.
Co-organizer Mylinda Mason of the National Straight Pride Coalition, however, insisted there were no hidden intentions.
"Everyone is trying to raise awareness of this event, and it's going to be very similar to a church service," Mason told FOX 40. "I know everyone likes going out and celebrating sodomy, but we really want to celebrate heterosexuality.
"Everyone tries to sensitize this event and it will be very similar to a service, I know that everyone likes to celebrate sodomy, but we really want to celebrate heterosexuality."
"Mason said about the critics." It really gets much more like a worship service. It really only celebrates our beautiful country.
But Mason's 28-year-old son, Matthew Mason, who is openly gay, was one of the opponents of the plan for a straight-pride event.
"This is not direct pride, it's hate pride," he said Son to FOX 40 woman who raised me and actively campaigns for my rights as a human being who I am. "
