PlayStation 4 revenue may have peaked

The PlayStation 4 has been a great success for Sony, but it looks like things are slowing down – at least in terms of hardware sales. The company recently announced that it sold 19 million consoles in 2017 after selling 20 million in 2016. The forecast for the current year, which ends in March 2019, is 16 million. For comparison, Nintendo expects to sell 20 million switch consoles during the same period. Overall, Sony has sold more than 76 million PS4s, which means it should overtake the PS3 this year.

That's not necessarily bad news for Sony because the company is making more money and expects it to continue. The PlayStation business delivered 1

7.8 percent more revenue year over year, resulting in an operating profit of 177.5 billion yen (US $ 1.62 billion). This is because Sony sells more PS4 software than ever before and attracts more PlayStation Plus subscribers. For this year, Sony forecasts a slight decline in sales due to anticipated lower hardware sales, but an increase in profit of 7 percent.

Sony is at the point where it does not have to sell so many razors and can concentrate on the blades. The big question is when will it be necessary to design a new razor.
