The Pokémon Company has released a brand new presentation for their upcoming smartphone game, Pokémon Masters . At the top you can watch the entire show (which lasts only eight minutes).
The game was created by The Pokémon Company and DeNA and aims to create a gaming experience where players can make friends with other coaches as well as with their coaches. The presentation started with a long animated trailer before the producer of the game, Yu Sasaki, seemed to tell us something more.
He announced that the game would take place on an artificial island called Pasio, where the coaches want to become the winner of a new competition called Pokémon Masters League. Coaches have only a single Pokémon traveling with them, and this pairing is referred to as a "sync pair".
Throughout history, join coaches from the main series of Pokémon games and join them to create a team together; To qualify for the competition, your team begins an adventure collecting badges. However, Pokémon Masters looks a bit different as you play in 3-on-3 team matches in real time. In the video above you can see some fighting.
There are special moves known as sync moves, and even the coaches act as a support character (allowing them to heal a Pokémon in the midst of combat). Sasaki notes that the goal of Pokémon Masters was to develop a game that everyone can learn and enjoy in a relaxed way.
The game will be available on the App Store and Google Play in the summer of 2019. Further details (hopefully including information on how the game deals with monetization) are expected to follow.
