The sun has set on the first day of the first Pokemon Go Fest in Europe, here in Dortmund, Germany – but not without surprise for fans.
Since the game's Go Fest ended here at 6 pm local time, players were encouraged to gather for the usual event photo. And it was there, as the crowd watched, a hot air balloon appeared on the horizon.
Team Rocket, Pokmon's evil criminal gang, has used hot air balloons in the past, especially in the anime where Jesse and James often drive in a Meowth-style balloon on their way to their latest evil plan.
The photo that appeared in the sky over Dortmund today was a simpler version, black in color, but adorned with Team Rocket's distinctive red R logo.
The recognition for this photo, correct, and the enlarged view goes to reddit user J0hnd0euf.
This is the third tease of Pokmon Go and its maker, Niantic, in the context of Team Rocket's upcoming invasion – which, as recently announced files suggest, will form the basis for the next major release of the game.
Last month, after the doors closed at Pokmon Go Fest in Chicago, pictures taken in the AR Photo mode of the game suddenly began to show Team Rocket gang members leaning into the frame , (The same effect can be seen here this week in Dortmund.)
And just last week, Pokmon Go's official artwork for the third anniversary featured two shadowy Team Rocket characters almost hidden in the shadows on one side.
A hidden success that goes into Pokmon Go's files points to new battles with Team Rocket Grunts that have invaded your game. Another suggests that you be commissioned to "cleanse" the mysterious Shadow Pokemon – the result of an artificial method of controlling Pokmons introduced in the Colosseum and Gale of Darkness spin-off games Go & # 39; s Files – including Mudkips, at the heart of this month's Community Day. Could we then tease a Team Rocket?
"We have cool things ahead of us …" Niantic Marketing Manager Anne Beuttenmller told me today when I inquired what could come next for the game.
While Pokmon Go offered new features on a regular basis (Friends and Gift, Commerce and PvP) in the past year, minor updates have been made so far this year. And while some fans are happy to watch the latest Shiny Pokmon in the game, others are hungry for new content.
"I know what you mean," Beuttenmüller replied. "I think you will be happier with the things to come …"
