Approximately 10,000 participants of the music festival on the Croatian island of Pag were evacuated from the event site at night from Monday to Tuesday due to a fire that broke out in the nearby forest – local authorities said. No one was injured in the action.

The hip-hop festival "Fresh Island", which was held on the beach in Zrće on the island of Pag north of the city of Zadar, attracted mainly young tourists.
As communicated by the Croatian police, fire broke out on Tuesday at 1:00 am in a pine forest near the beach of Zrće, which is known for its summer music festivals and events. There are many bars. According to the communique, there are no injuries and the fire has already been mastered.
The mayor of Novalja Ante Dabo, who was near the beach, explained that the first festival participants from Zrće were evacuated to another beach and then by bus to Novalja.
It's clear what caused the fire. The EFE agency emphasizes that fires are spreading rapidly due to the strong wind and blocking several local roads. Three planes extinguished the fire. About 10 hectares of forest are burnt down.
Tourism is one of the pillars of the Croatian economy. Last year, over 19 million tourists visited the Adriatic coast of this country with 4.2 million inhabitants.
