Tomasz Brzostowski, Managing Director of the global network of business service centers Hitachi Vantara, the Japanese company Hitachi, meets Professor Jerzy Hausner, lecturer at the University of Economics in Krakow. – In Poland and Krakow service centers were created because we were tasi. Issuing invoices, billing sub-issues, or running a call center were not demanding. But in a few, several years, we will not hope – no more. Easier activities are automated, robotized or exported to India, Vietnam or the Philippines. We explained with the professor that our escape could only go in the direction of advanced business services – says Tomasz Brzostowski.

We need well-trained employees for this

Yes – the problems of the editors, competence gaps and the challenge of the business services industry – a pioneering project has arisen: prof. Hausner and director Brzostowski invited one of the ASPIRE-associated companies to cooperate, including AON, Alexander Mann Solutions, IBM or IG. The lecturers of the Business Academy in Krakow have jointly developed a specialization program for students.

Under the complex name, there are three semesters of dual development in the industry of modern business services. In March, 30 students started their specialization. There were more people who wanted to attend, but the classes are all in English, which is used in over 90% of the cases. For many, there are barriers.

There are no classical routines. The emphasis is on communicating and working in teams in a multicultural environment – because the lack of these skills is what drives the business the most. They run professional associations of the UEK, but they are representatives of 11 companies involved in the project. The second semester will be a soft competence. The students in the teams are concerned with solving the real problems of the industrial enterprises in Krakow – and must present their solutions to the leadership.

Brzostowski explains that the goal of cooperation is a broader change of the educational system.

The cooperation between the UEK and 11 companies is If you have a pilot project at a faculty, we hope that the specialists will become interfaculty and then appear at other universities. The following scales are different from other existing partnerships: Companies cooperate with universities – eg IBM from AGH – but this is the first time the program has been written in such a wide range.

Modern business services are growing at dizzying speeds

Nearly 100 percent of them speak English, over 70 percent – in German (which is almost 70 percent of employers in the industry, 12 percent in English) and about 25 percent – almost no Polish language is used

Centers are mainly looking for graduates in language, business and administration, ICT and engineering. Who is the average employee of the Polish Center for Modern Business Services?

According to ABSL data, it has on average 31 years and is female (54%), has higher education (and 93%). 78 percent of employees in centers work on the basis of employment contracts. Interestingly, in centers with foreign capital almost 80 percent, and in those with Polish – 70 percent

If we do not educate employees, we have a problem

For Hitachi it is another such project. Already three years ago, the company started cooperation with the Vocational Training Center in Wieliczka (as a team of vocational schools) and has been cooperating with the Szkola Ekonomicznych No. 1 in Krakow since that same year.

Thanks to cooperation, students take part in software courses Oracle (because they learn only "local" Polish accounting at school), international accounting standards (only Polish regulations in school) or English in business.

For third and fourth grade, Hitachi offers patents at Three Months Stable. Its positive end is a chance to get a job offer with the help of extracurricular studies.

– We want to organize a meeting of directors of business techniques in Krakow and tell you about our program; A nationwide program can be made out of it. This is more than just Hitachi – such as the defense against the exodus to India on the one hand and the recruitment of services in advanced processes on the other hand.
