Lessons have been shortened to 30 minutes. The Ministry of National Education is introducing NEW CHANGES to the way schools work [24.09.2020]

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the return of children to school in September was a big question mark. Currently, most schools have scheduled classes, but the Ministry of National Education has decided to fundamentally change the way schools work. The point is to reduce the lesson from 45 minutes to just half an hour.

FLESZ – teachers can transmit the virus?

During the press conference on Monday, the head of the Ministry of National Education, Dariusz Piontkowski, mentioned new changes in education aimed at making teaching and the functioning of Polish schools easier during the coronavirus pandemic.

New lessons. Teach for 30 minutes

The biggest changes concern the duration of the lessons. As emphasized by Dariusz Piontkowski

Distance learning at the request of parents and the ability to shorten lessons to 30 minutes are among the changes introduced by the Ministry of Education.

This means that all correspondence lessons in the 2020/2021

school year last between 30 and a maximum of 60 minutes. When it comes to stationary classes in schools, these remain unchanged. Here the lessons still last 45 minutes.

Why weren’t shorter lessons introduced earlier?

We would like to remind you that the idea of shortening the lessons was discussed at the time of Minister Anna Zalewska, who said in an interview for Interia: We should quickly consider reducing the lessons from 45 to 30 minutes if the situation in schools was more difficult. Then the division into two shifts would be easy, no one would finish classes too late. 30 minutes are enough to implement the core curriculum.

As the head of the Ministry of National Education points out, the earlier introduction of shortened lessons was not possible due to ambiguous regulations.
