71-year-old Polish priest Kazimierz Andrzej Wojno, who served in Brazil, was assassinated in a raid on a church in Brazil. The district governor announced a three-day mourning.
Early Saturday night Fri. As usual, Kazimierz Andrzej Wojno, who was called by the parishioners Father Casimiro, celebrated Mass in the Parish of Our Lady of Health (Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Saúde). Shortly thereafter, a group of at least four men stormed into the presbytery. Criminals tied up a Polish priest and a church priest who was also in the building.
According to police estimates, the criminals spent about three hours in the presbytery. During this time they broke into the safe and stole, among other things, liturgical ships.
A 39-year-old church was able to escape and alert the police. Officials near the church found the body of a Polish priest. The priest's arms and legs were tied with wire.
Joao Firmino, the faithful are shocked. – We all knew Father Casimiro. He was associated with his community for 25 years and lived in Brazil for 40 years. He was a beloved priest, "Firmino said." He always supported those who came to help him, "he said.
The governor of the district, Ibaneis Rocha, declared a three-day mourning in connection with the assassination. "The murder of Father Casimiro, a man of peace loved and admired by all, not only shakes us, but compels us to reflect on the sense of insecurity that strikes us all. It shows a cruel reality that we must face with determination "- he said, quoted by the Brazilian media.
The Brazilian capital's police assured them to do everything possible to identify and arrest the detainees.  An earlier break-in to the Church of Our Lady of Health took place in April, when thieves stole tabernacle, among other things.
