WEBER COUNTY – Police say human remains have been discovered in the foothills near the border between North Ogden and Ogden.
The Sheriff Office of Weber County, Lt. Matt Jensen said the police received a phone call late on Sunday afternoon stating that potential hikers were found by people at the foot of a 60-foot drop.
Search and Rescue teams were sent to the scene Monday morning, where they found a "very decayed" body, Jensen said. The body was found about a quarter mile from the 1
Jensen said that the body had been there "several" months, but did not have an accurate estimate. According to Jensen, the police will probably have to identify the body with dental records or items found near the body. Until Monday afternoon, police still could not tell if the body was a man or a woman.
Search and Rescue and CSI crews processed the human remains scene all Monday morning. Weber County sheriff's office and deputies have completed the investigation and recovery efforts.
