The project seems to be a Resto-Mod 993.
Porsche is a new, unique car for its 70th anniversary as a car manufacturer. The Gold Project will be auctioned after its completion to the highest bidder.
The project is being carried out by Porsche Classic, which specializes in the restoration of the company's historic models. In the first video titled "The Vision," the description challenges us to "see the development of a vehicle that has never been seen before." In the clip we see a designer sketching a 911 with a wide, low stand.
Meanwhile, the covers are removed from a 993 case, suggesting that it will serve as the basis for Project Gold. "The inspiration – based on a classic body – was individualized by Porsche designers," continues the description.
Porsche intends to unveil a new video documenting the build every week until it's unveiled. Their titles indicate which part of the car the videos will show. Next up is "paint and laser", "seam and stitch", "shooter and preserve" and "motor and electrics". The car will be presented online on the 24th of August and will be on public display at the Rennsport Reunion in Laguna Seca on September 27th. Finally, it will be auctioned off at the 27th Sotheby Porsche 70th Anniversary Sale at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia on October 27th.
