Porsche Taycan beats Tesla Model S with reservations in the drag race and handling comparison test

A German television program has managed to get hold of both a Porsche Taycan Turbo S and a Tesla Model S P100D at the same time, and they have done some comparative tests.

However, there are some limitations to the tests.

Last month, Porsche officially launched the production version of the Taycan, its first all-electric car.

The vehicle was well received, but found the inevitable comparison with the Tesla Model S and loses heavily on paper.

But comparisons on paper are not the same as real tests.

The German television program Auto Mobil performed some of these tests after getting a brand new Taycan Turbo S and a Model S P1

00D.

The former won the handling test and performed several drag races that the Taycan won with increasing time: [194559002]

Porsche has always had an impressive and segment driving, so the test is not exactly surprising, but the drag race is more surprising as the model S P100D is officially faster than the Taycan Turbo.

However, there are some limitations to the tests.

We do not know what tires they are on, w This can make a big difference, especially since the rubber is wet.

The wet surface can also explain why both do not reach their official speeds of 0 to 60 miles per hour.

Also featured on the show is an older Model S P100D and not the latest "Raven" model S, which features a new drivetrain and suspension, which is particularly useful for the handling test could be.

Although the newer version has the same official acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour.

Tesla is also working on a better version of the Model S called "Plaid" with a three-engine powertrain.

Electrek's Take

I've already said it, but it's worth repeating: I do not like that comparison between the Taycan and the Model S.

Both are great cars that appeal to different people ,

The design of the Taycan is outstanding in my opinion and the driving experience of Porsche is legendary.

Tesla has many advantages of its technology and I think we will find out that the top model S will actually be faster than the Taycan.

So yes, no perfect tests, but it's still interesting.

The Porsche is also more expensive than the Model S.

In any case, the competition is good and I think the Taycan will inspire more people for purely electric vehicles.
