An American journalist apologized after writing that Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was a "cheater" who had arrested US singer Nick Jonas to marry her to advance her career. Mariah Smith said she had "taken full responsibility for what I did." wrote, and I was wrong. I'm really sorry.
The article in The Cut, a New York based website, has since been discontinued.
Many Indians had risen to Mrs. Chopra's defense and accused The Cut of racism.
Ms. Smith, however, said she does not "approve of racism, xenophobia, or sexism."

Ms. Chopra and Mr. Jonas got married last weekend in the city of Jodhpur in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
