GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (AP) – The prosecution states that a New Jersey mother killed her baby son because she was He felt he was in the way of her extramarital affair.
The accusation came Wednesday during a hearing for Heather Reynolds. The 41-year-old resident of Gloucester Township is being charged with murdering and threatening the child in May 201
The Camden County Procuratorate says Heather Reynolds has suffocated her 17-month-old son Axel with a cleaning wipe nose and mouth. However, her lawyer claimed she had nothing to do with death.
One judge eventually ruled that Reynolds will remain in detention until her trial, and found that she may be sentenced to life imprisonment.
Officials said Reynolds ran away from home. She held her unresponsive child in her arms and screamed for help from her neighbors. Rescuers soon found the boy on the lawn of his family's home.
