Projected Mets Bullpen after the signing of Justin Wilson

On Friday, the Mets continued their busy offseason, this time with the left-hander Relief [193] [9] [9] [9] [9] [9] [9] [9] [9] [9] [19] [19] [9] [1

With the acquisitions of Wilson, Diaz, and Familia So I'm planning Mets' bullet projects on the opening day.

  1. Edwin Diaz – RHP
  2. Jeurys Familia – RHP
  3. Justin Wilson – LHP
  4. Robert Gsellman – RHP
  5. Seth Lugo – RHP
  6. Luis Avilan – LHP
  7. Kyle Dowdy – RHP

So you can guarantee that Diaz, Familia, Wilson, Gsellman and Lugo are locks for the Bullpen. In the last two places, there are still some leeway.

The Mets will wear two left-handers after signing Wilson. I think that the competition for the second Lefty will probably go back to Avilan and Daniel Zamora who was well positioned after his debut in 2018 at the end of the season.

I think Avilan has an advantage in mind, being an established veteran and recording quality numbers throughout his career. (In seven major league seasons, he held a 2: 213/289 / .292 clip for left-handers.)

However, I think Zamora will be one of the first to call the Mets pitching reinforcements.

Then we have Kyle Dowdy. I'm sure many of you will say, "WHO?!" Yes, it is relatively unknown, but the Mets picked it up in Cleveland's Rule 5 draft at the end of the Cleveland Winter Meetings. I think he will get a shot to stay in the majors.

However, if he falter or if the Mets need his service post, Dowdy is grabbed. If he does not do the cut, I think the last spot in the pen will go to someone like Drew Smith who was solid for New York in the second half of 2018.

There are a few other types that I'm sure will be considered for the Bullpen of Opening Day, including Tyler Bashlor Jacob Rhame recently acquired by Eric Hanhold Walker Lockett or even a non-participant who is invited if they have an impressive performance.

Regardless, the signing of Wilson deepens the New York pin and gives them more options to work with. [19659002Whatisitthatmakespeoplebelievethattheywillcompletetheiropeningday?
