New Orleans Pelicans Guardian Elfrid Payton took on an illustrious list of NBA greats on Monday recording a triple-double in his fifth consecutive game – NBA veteran, along with Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan to do the trick, says the Elias Sports Bureau. Westbrook has done it four times, Robertson three times and Chamberlain twice.
Payton, averaging 10.5 points, 7.3 assists and 5.4 rebounds this season, had 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds on Monday in a 129-125 overtime win in Dallas, which saw a six-time defeat in New Orleans ended.
Pelicans manager Alvin Gentry praised Payton's performance after the game.
