If you've tried to sign in to the PlayStation Network or play an online game on PlayStation 4, you may not have been able to connect. The reason for this is that PlayStation Network is currently suffering from various outages without any indication as to when they will be resolved. [ Update: It Seems the Problems Are Now Solved]
The PSN Status Page lists two important categories that currently have problems: Account Management and Gaming and Social. PlayStation Now, Video, Vue, Music and the PlayStation Store, all of which were listed as out, are back online. The details under the category "Gaming and Social" read: "You may have difficulty launching games, applications, or online features, and our engineers are working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience."
As befits such an all-out failure, the details also include PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and web apps as down. There is no indication of how quickly the failure is resolved. Sony's official Twitter account is just as quiet about the timing. As always, it could be a matter of minutes or hours. As soon as we receive further information, we will contact you again.
In the meantime, a potentially serious issue has been resolved where a message has been sent to PSN accounts. If you are concerned, Sony has taken a few simple steps to get your PS4 in order.
