Actor Rami Malek had to play piano before playing iconic singer Freddie Mercury in the new biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody". His bandmate co-stars were equally inexperienced with their instruments before they were cast. (October 22nd)

According to the reviews, "Bohemian Rhapsody" will not rock you.
Prior to the release of the Queen's biopic on November 2, critics have shared their thoughts on the movie starring Rami Malek with false teeth as the legendary Freddie Mercury. The consensus? It seems that Malek has a high grade. The movie is not.
Here's a look at reviews that have helped the film get a 53 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes at release time:
USA TODAY's Brian Truitt releases the film ★★ Four: "Apart from a solid job by Rami Malek … and some moments of true greatness, the movie is mainly a music-behind-the-music journey through the highs and lows of the iconoclastic British rock band.
"Freddie Mercury (becomes) of Rami Malek played with magnetism and breathtaking physicality … (but) the edges of Freddie Mercury's story could be smoothed out in this narrative, the indulgences and debauchery are sugarcoated, "writes Sheri Linden in a mixed critique for The Hollywood Reporter. 19659008] AV Club author Jesse Hassenger says in his review, "Bohemian Rhapsody & # 39; is not a subtle movie, nor is it a very good one. But it goes through the biggest hits with a lot of energy.

IndieWire critic David Ehrlich says, "(It's) a broad, frivolous and uselessly formulaic biopic. … If not Rami Malek's wild attitude as one of the best frontman in rock history, a deep list of killer songs, and the long shadow of his band's legendary performance at Live Aid in 1985, this movie could be effective at all time through any musician to roll a part of the United States. "
" It's not just fantasy. With gusto and soul (Malek) he delivers one of the most outstanding performances of the year, "says Mara Reinstein of Us Weekly. The movie itself, however, will not make you stomp your feet and clap your hands in unbridled joy.
Owen Gleiberman writes in Variety that "Rami Malek, the 37-year-old Egyptian-American actor of & # 39; Mr. Robot & # 39; takes on the role of Freddie Mercury as if he was born to it. So why is "Bohemian Rhapsody" not as good as Rami Malek's a better movie? "
" Can someone find a movie to love? Asks New York postal critic Johnny Oleksinski "Rhapsody" has a flat font, oversized performances and looks like it was filmed in a sauna. "
