During the weekend Super Smash Bros. Mele there was a walk-off in Vancouver in the Battle of BC 3. e The finale, when Alejandro took on "Chango" Gastelum against Chaucer "Fauxebro" Gilson.
Gastelum allegedly played Jigglypuff's strength by avoiding the character of his opponent (Ice Climber) as much as possible during the fight. When it came to the final game, Chango took the lead 3-2 up and then decided to kill the rest of the time playing by not engaging with his opponent. It came to the point where the ice climbers of Fauxhebro stopped and the battle came to a standstill.
It gets a bit awkward from here when the comment team apologizes to live stream viewers as the crowd growls. A teammate in the background also lifts his middle finger into the camera and shows that he is not satisfied with the fight. Then Fauxhebro triggers his controller and goes off stage. See how everything unfolds in the tweet below:
This incident has led to a split within the rival community of Melee. Some players believe that nothing has been wrong with the way Chango has played, and others think that fights should be fast and hectic to be as entertaining as possible. Conversations about limiting Jigglypuff's ability to essentially camp, and banning this figure in competitions altogether, have now even been increased.
Prior to this incident, we discovered that Super Smash Bros. Melee had been canceled by EVO and signaled the end of an era.
