The Boston Red Sox are out of their fourth trip to the World Series in 15 years, trying to beat defending champion Houston Astros on Thursday in Game 5's American League Championship Series at Minute Maid Park.  After the first home game, the Red Sox game came to life and scored at least seven runs in each of the last three games. The big hits came from Jackie Bradley Jr., who had a double in Game 2, a Grand Slam in Game 3 and two in Game 4.
Boston leads 3-1 in a Best-of-7 series for the first time since the World Series against the Cubs 1918.

The 23 runs for the Red Sox are more than the Astros allowed in any three-game track during the regular season. Houston only allowed at least 20 runs in a three-game run five times in 2018 and was the best in baseball to prevent runs. The Astros only allowed 3.3 runs per game and in total allowed 112 fewer runs than the next smartest American league team to do the blasting.
Trying to stop this offensive kick, Justin Verlander who struck the Red Sox in Game 1 is Fenway Park. Since joining the Astros, the seasoned right-hander has an ERA of 2.44 in eight postseason games, including seven starts, with 51 strikeouts and 14 walks in 48 innings.
In his career, Verlander is in five starts in eliminating games with a 1.21 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 37 ¢ innings.
