The Toyota RAV4 has since been formative Years in the 1990s a long way. At various parts of its history, it has taken the form of a sporty two-door, a convertible, an EV, and a three-row family vehicle. In the fifth generation, the RAV4 receives technical improvements and sits on a new platform that promises better handling. But is the new design what it takes to stay the bestseller in its segment? Let's take a look at the styling of the Toyota RAV4 from 2019.
Whether you like the new design, Toyota deserves recognition for taking risks and having a completely different look. We see some of the biggest design changes in the foreground. The previous generation RAV4 had a well-rounded face, but the new model has a square front end. New headlights complement the more aggressive, sharply defined front grille. The look reminds us a lot of the Tacoma, especially the adventure model. Toyota also positioned the fog lights higher on the front panel. All in all, we would say that the front end of the RAV4 looks much more athletic than before.
The same applies to the side profile of the crossover. New angular wheel arches underline the height of the RAV4. In this context, the ground clearance has increased by more than half an inch. The robust look adds even more trim.
You'll also notice that the side mirror is on the door instead of the A-pillar, which visually lowers the waistline and improves visibility. The model also has a larger rear quarter glass surface. From this perspective, you can see that the new RAV4 is getting a floating roof. The roof also slopes downwards so that the rear protrudes.
In the rear of the RAV4 receives a more distinctive bumper and a double exhaust. There are also more angular taillights connected by a silver bar. Also, the license plate area gets a new shape. The rear of the old model looked tidier.
When you look into the cabin, the RAV4 features a new infotainment screen that sits directly on the dashboard. The climate controls are positioned lower and a new shifter occupies less space on the center console. Different drive selections are now left of the gear stem. There is a new electronic parking brake and new cup holders.
