ATLANTA – US Representative John Lewis was hospitalized on Saturday for an unknown illness.

According to a spokesman for his office, the 78- The one-year Democratic Congressman and civil rights activist was in a hospital for routine surveillance. He relaxes comfortably and expects to be released on Sunday.

Lewis, a Democrat, played a key role in the civil rights movement and marched in 1965 with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, Alabama.

Lewis was expected on Saturday night at an event in Atlanta, but not participated
