Researchers discover 50,000,000 carats of diamonds in the earth

AMERICA SERIKAT, NNC – Scientists have just discovered a treasure trove of diamonds, very valuable, that it will destroy the world economy. Scientists believe that a ton of diamonds are buried in the "Kratonic roots" on four continents.

There is only one small catch: The treasure is buried 100 miles deeper than any drill has ever penetrated before.

The Cratonic Root is the oldest part of the rock under the tectonic conditions, shaped like an upturned mountain. Researchers estimate that the roots can have 1

-2 percent diamond, which means that about a quadrillion tons of diamonds are buried there.

Since one tonne of diamonds is 50,000,000 carats, each carat is worth at least 3,000 pounds, which comes to an estimated 150,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds through relatively unscientific calculations.

"This shows that diamond is not perhaps this exotic mineral, but on the (geological) scale of things, it is relatively commonplace," says Ulrich Faul, a researcher in MIT Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science, to Novinit

"We can not get them, but still there are many more diamonds there than we ever thought."

The researchers conclude that there were diamonds down there due to an anomaly in seismic data – where sound waves seem to accelerate.

Faul and his colleagues counted that the anomaly could be triggered by 1 – 2 percent of diamonds in the "kratonic roots".

"Diamonds are special in many ways, and one of the special features is that the speed of sound in diamonds is more than twice as fast as in the dominant mineral in the upper mantle, olivine."
