Beatles bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunited tonight (July 13) at Dodger Stadium. McCartney was headlining the huge venue in Los Angeles and had just begun the encore "Birthday" (notable: Starrs was on July 7) when he announced a special guest.
Starr took over the drums for two songs and continued playing the short "sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band "(reprise) and then the longer" Helter Skelter ". Starr grinned throughout the performance, then threw his sticks into the audience and grabbed McCartney's bass, as if throwing it into the crowd.
McCartney indulged in surprise and sang Starr's signature slogan "Peace and Love" as the drummer left the stage.
But Starr was not the only guest actor of the evening. Joe Walsh, of Eagles fame, participated in the Triple Guitar Solo of the finale "The End". As the highlight of the critical medley on Abbey Road, McCartney said, "We had no idea what we were doing.
The last night of a North American solo tour that began in late May in New Orleans, McCartney said, "Farewell, folks. Farewell to America. There's just one more thing to say: See you next time.
