BAGHDAD – Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says there is "no truth" to reports of an imminent visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Iraq.
The statement released on Saturday follows protests in Baghdad against the visit.
Hundreds of people gathered in the Iraqi capital on Friday afternoon, some carrying signs accusing the Kingdom of Crimes of the Islamic State Group of Crime
The statement of the Saudi Foreign Ministry added that "the two fraternal countries" "are positive developments … lately in all areas ".
The office of the Iraqi Prime Minister had previously stated that the Crown Prince is planning to do so. Iraq and Saudi Arabia have long had a tense relationship, but recently they have restored relations to diplomatic relations between the two counties.
