A suspicious package was sent to actor Robert De Niro on Thursday morning in New York, CBS News learned. Sources say the package is similar to those sent on Wednesday to several high-ranking Democrats and CNN, which included "potentially destructive" devices.
The bomb squad responded, examined the device under an x-ray and removed it. Sources reported to CBS News that the package apparently came from the same sender that was targeted against former US presidents and other politicians on Wednesday.
The secret service has intercepted two parcels sent to the home of former President Obama in Washington and Bill and Hillary Clinton's residence in the Westchester County, New York.
Another package was sent to former CIA Director John Brennan at CNN's New York offices, prompting CNN's office and the Time Warner Center to evacuate.
Low Explosive Explosive Devices At least two of the packages consisted of a whistle, wires, and black powder, a police officer told CBS News, lead investigator Pat Milton.
