Rogersville student of potential future astronaut | South County



Rogersville student Madeleine Jones traveled to Huntsville, Alabama this summer to attend Space Space at the US Space and Rocket Center.

Jones spent a week in the educational program that promotes science, engineering, engineering and mathematics team to fly a simulated space mission to the International Space Station (ISS). On board the ISS, Jones and his crew participated in experiments and successfully completed a spacewalk. Jones and his crew returned to Earth in time to graduate.

Space Camp operates year-round in Huntsville, Alabama, using astronaut training techniques to engage apprentices in real-world applications of STEM subjects. Students sleep in ISS resident quarters and train in simulators used by NASA. More than 750,000 trainees have completed Space Camp since their founding in 1

982 in Huntsville, Alabama, including European Space Agency astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti and NASA astronaut Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger. Kate Rubins and dr. Serena Auñón, who recently launched into space International Space Station. Children and teachers from all 50 states and 69 international locations have visited a Space Camp® program.
